Modern Weekend Home Located in The Dessert

The instruction from the future occupants was to create a cozy weekend home with a minimalistic interior and exterior design. Located in the desert on the outskirts of Los Angeles it had to be built with resistant building materials to cope with extreme heats, colds and earthquakes, and easy to maintain. The use of simple materials, only a few colors, terrazzo floors all over the house are creating a spacious effect on a relative small surface and are reducing the maintenance since this relaxing home design for suburban people is mainly used during the weekends. The effect is even extruded by giving this modern house big glass surfaces, separating the living room with the enormous porch. An outside fire place to enjoy barbeques and cold desert evenings are integrated in this terrace. This house is a real escape, located in a remote desert area but a short ride away from the big city and therefore easy accessible for weekends or short holidays.
